Issue:
Reduced efficiency and wastage when doing colour changes.

Current Situation:
Large gaps are required to be left on the line to allow different colour booths to be rolled into position on & off line. During this process, all other processes in the paint line remain idle and waste energy and materials.

Objective:
Minimise time taken to make a colour change by shortening the gap allowance.

Improvement Initiative:
Two new small booths will be built and replace one existing large booth. Hanging spaces on the overhead line will be reconfigured to allow smaller items to be placed closer together. Expected capital outlay $30,000.

Timing:
Work on reconfiguring overhead line has commenced. New booths scheduled to be complete and on line end of May 2006.

Measurement:
Reduced turn around time for colour changes.
