Issue:
Potential discharge of powder from powder coating line into external environment. On a previous occasion a failure of the filtration system caused powder to escape.
Current Situation:
Exhaust system from the powder coating booths is filtered and the filtered air is released through external vents to the external environment.
Objective:
Eliminate powder escaping into the external environment.
Improvement Initiative:
Fully enclose the powder coating area by building internal walls. Recirculate the air by installing a filtration system within the confined area. Balance all air flows in the area to contain the air. Estimated capital cost $50,000.
Timing:
Complete recirculation system by the end of January 2005.
Measurement:
External vents blocked by project completion date.
